Holubar the outdoor down jacket and parkas brand
Holubar is a brand created in Colorado in 1947. The brand was originally designed to provide technical clothing for mountaineers, gimbals and rescue teams. Over the years, Holubar has built its reputation among the general public as one of the most important North American brands in the outdoor clothing landscape.
Behind the Holubar brand is a duo, Alice and Roy Holubar. They met in the 1930s at Colorado University. To practice their common passion of treeking, they could not find jackets and parkas that suited them. After the war, they found stocks of nylon and began making duvets in 1946, followed by nylon jackets and a range of hiking bags.
Holubar was the first brand in the world to combine nylon (recovered from parachute canvases) with down in sleeping bags.
In the 1980s, Holubar became very successful with its colourful down jackets. The American brand did not go unnoticed on the ski slopes. At that time, these down jackets were a must: they were the essential accessory to complete your 80's winter look.
For the record, the Holubar brand started in a modest workshop and then in a small shop in Boulder, the American outdoor sports mecca located in Colorado. Today, Boulder is one of the brand's flagship models. A very high quality parka recognizable by its four pockets on the front, two vertical ones covered in Alpaca and two flat ones with fly and snap button. Originally produced for the US Army in the 1960s, the Holubar Boulder coat is an iconic piece to have in your men's wardrobe.
Today, Holubar Mountaineering is a world-renowned brand with an international reach.
Holubar, the iconic American outdoor brand is back
In 2010, Italian textile and outdoor enthusiast Alberto Raengo (ex-Blauer and RefrigiWear) took over the brand to give it a second life. Today, the collection is distributed by 500 retailers worldwide, and we are proud to distribute this iconic outdoor brand on Sneakin.fr
Did you know that the brand is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year? For this new season, Holubar is bringing back the iconic parka that wrote its history, the Deer Hunter, which was featured on Robert De Niro's shoulders in the 1978 film "Journey to the Edge of Hell".
Holubar is a premium brand with down jackets starting at 450 euros and parkas starting at 600 euros. This season, you will find a modern look combined with high technicality. Holubar jackets, coats and parkas are perfect to brighten up the grey winter and autumn while staying warm in a high quality product.
